3. The Eight Weeks

Week 1: What you need to know about Champions in Business.

The origins of Champions in Business. Why and How Champions became so vital. What they have done to change their business, their communities and the world. It’s all important. Get caught up on what’s been happening since the VIA Classification and VIA Survey were released. And, explore an important intervention: Do you value your highest strengths?

Week 2: The Champions in Business paradox.

Champions in Business would appear to be an initiative driven by leadership. Or HR. But research throws up an interesting challenge. It is critically important how Champions in Business are perceived through the business. Organic Champions in Business are best but the challenge is how a business achieves organic Champions in Business. What makes Champions in Business successful and what causes failure.

Week 3: Champion Opportunities.

What Opportunities can a business identify that will significantly improve well-being, purposefulness, values uptake, culture improvement, understanding of the benefits of happiness, employee engagement and experience, stress reduction, teamwork and collaboration, creativity and innovation and other business-critical challenges? We show you tools and processes that help businesses identify scientifically proven Opportunities. You will understand the different types of Opportunities, how to identify the ones most appropriate to your business challenges and also how to identify and prevent what may seem to be Opportunities but could present a threat to your business and people.

Week 4: Champion Discovery.

Closely aligned to Opportunity discovery is Champion discovery. Once you have discovered the Opportunities that are appropriate to your business then you need to identify the in-house talent that will become the Champions of those Opportunities. You will see the characteristics of an ideal Champion.

Week 5: Champion Development.

Once you have identified Champions it is time to develop them to their true potential so they can add the maximum possible value to your business and people. You will see how to discover the skills, wisdom, and behaviours that a true Champion will posses and see how to help your Champions to achieve the maximum impact for the business and its people. Longer term impacts can spread to customers, suppliers and the community.

We'll look at all the aspects of what makes a successful Champion.

No matter how much you plan, you will encounter challenges in Champion Development. Learn to look out for the most common pitfalls, and ways your approach can manage these challenges.

Week 6: Champion Go.

Your Champion is ready to be unleashed. What are the support structures that will make the Champions journey easier? We'll look at all the aspects of what a successful Champion needs from the business, leadership, HR, and Organisational Development. We’ll examine the key aspects of the Champions journey: the initial marketing, making the pilot phase a success, building a tribe.

Week 7: Spread the Fascination.

The Champion gathers data and stories of the benefits of the Opportunity. In the telling of stories and relaying of data so the Champion will be able to convince more people of the benefits of taking up the Opportunity. It is important that data is presented that will prove a return on investment; what improvements in understanding of the business Purpose and Values, the impact on the employee experience and engagement, the customer experience, stress reduction, teamwork and collaboration, creativity and innovation and other business-critical challenges. These concepts will come to life through examples and personal reflections.

Week 8: Taking Opportunities outside the business, Repeating the process and general Q and A.

Businesses are reporting value in sharing their expertise and experiences with customers and suppliers. We look at the benefits to the business of solving customer problems when there is a common cultural bond between supplier and customer. We look at the wider implications for stakeholder management, Corporate Social Investment and the business reputation.

Repeating the process. Once the initial Opportunities have become part of the business DNA what more can be done? How does a business find new Opportunities and New Champions?

We will also reflect on the learnings and answer questions that participants may have.
